Here’s a basic plan for a pottery workshops focusing on the three main steps: throwing, trimming and glazing. One session last 2 hours up to 5 people in a group. • Step 1: Throwing (2 hours) Teaching participants how to shape the clay on the pottery wheel. Instructors demonstrates the basics of centering the clay on the wheel and shaping it into a cylinder or bowl, also provide individual feedback and help. Participants will try to center their clay and create simple forms like bowls or cups. • Step 2: Trimming (2h) Learning how to trim the base and refine the shape of their pottery after it has dried to a leather-hard stage. The instructors demonstrates trimming techniques using special tools to refine the shape and create a foot on the pottery. Participants use trimming tools to finish their pieces. • Step 3: Glazing (2h) Learning how to apply glaze to bisque-fired pottery. Instructor explains glazing techniques, including dipping, brushing, and pouring. Participants choose glazes and apply them to pre-bisqued pottery (their own pieces or previously made pottery). Instructors discuss firing process and participants’ pieces will be fired after the workshop. After the workshop, the pottery will be fired, and participants can pick up their finished pieces a week later. We provide aprons and towels for participants to keep their clothes clean, and encourage frequent hand washing. This structure provides a comprehensive introduction to pottery-making while giving participants the opportunity to experience each key step of the process.
